Inspiration behind this work of art
For this assignment, Aam Solleveld was inspired by patterns and motifs that occur in various interiors, such as in: wallpaper, upholstery fabric, a panelling or floor tile pattern. The mural tells the story of the different households behind the wall. It emphasizes the different backgrounds and lifestyles, that together can form a contrasting, yet harmonious whole. The yellow circle, which fades outwards, can be seen at the top of the mural.
The circle is clearly visible from a far distance and functions like a beacon. in this way, it serves as a marker for the shipping in the Kostverlorenvaart or for approaching traffic.
