‘Portraits in Paradise’ is a special art project for all employees of Amsterdam UMC. The occasion for this project is the merger of VUmc and AMC. Hospital and paradise may seem difficult to compare, but artist Gé-Karel van der Sterren has realized this by painting beautiful canvases, that lead you to that paradise. These paintings serve as backgrounds for the portrait photos of the Amsterdam UMC-employees and visitors.

The portrait wall visualizes the merger. Iwaarden depicted this in a design for the wall at the staff restaurant. We made a collage of portrait photos and text, combined with a background composed of the artwork of Gé-Karel van der Sterren.
