How art makes hospital visits more pleasant
Visitors entering the entrance building of hospital Rijnstate Arnhem are welcomed on the first floor by a colourful cloudy sky. The artwork Bright sun, less wind and still cool for the month of May by artist Jannemarein Renout shows clouds as we know them from classical paintings, but with a surprising digital twist. Renout does not use a camera, but a simple scanner that she points at the sky. The result is a tranquil yet dynamic interpretation of Dutch light. For patients, visitors and staff, this artwork is an invitation to pause for a moment and dream away, which is precisely the power that art can have in a hospital environment.
